Our History

A laser, an empty room, and two owners standing outside, greeting all of those strollers in the fall of 2006 at Red Wing’s annual Holiday Stroll. This was the start of Refined Skin, Inc. The dream of providing well-balanced aesthetic care in this small, but progressive town was realized after years of clinical preparation.

The Idea
Having practiced full-spectrum family medicine in Lake City since 2001, the idea of expanding my knowledge into the realm of aesthetic medicine was a perfect combination of helping people and practicing a more procedural medicine that focused on skin health and beauty. 

The Practice
In 2005, the clinic in Lake City purchased a laser to treat unwanted hair and veins as well as perform collagen remodeling. I completed multiple independent trainings and began treating all of the more-than-willing candidates (friends and coworkers) for over 1.5 years. 

The Search
A small but eloquent space in the courtyard of the St. James Hotel was available and turned out to be the perfect location for the new Refined Skin operation. The 600+ square foot space was transformed into a quaint medical spa as an esthetician and massage therapist were added to the staff. The spa operation was added as there was no internal spa facilities for the clients of the regal, historic St. James.

The Expansion
As word of a quality, patient-focused Medical Spa-right in downtown Red Wing-grew, the need for more physician availability also became necessary. The need for a bigger, brighter, and more modern operation became evident; and with the help of great local contractors, designers, and other businesses, the new (current) Refined Skin Medi-Spa was unveiled in the summer of 2009. The bright new space was complete with exclusive services and new techniques (body sculpting, faster hair removal, and new laser peel technology).

The Present
Refined Skin Medi-Spa continues to redefine luxury for local and area residents, along with the modern traveller, by providing the most effective technology backed by scientific and clinical research. Industry proven-products and services will continue to be offered, bringing the latest technology from the coasts and upholding the highest standards of professionalism and exceptional customer service.
